This time I am trying my hand with colouring a Carmen Medlin stamp called Siren's Call by SCACD. I have to admit the colouring didn't go as well as I planned - it seemed I wasted most of my steam for the background and scene and then everything about the poor mermaid went a bit wrong. :( But hey, we all have our bad ...and worse days! ;)
All I used was my watercolours and Sakura white gel pen (that's what I made the most mistakes with, sigh).
And the more I look at that oversized monstrous bow, the more I detest it. It's stuck on VERY firmly though. I tested. Sigh.
The chipboard flourish and dragonflies are by Make it Crafty and the pretty papers are from Prima Moulin Rouge pad.
Just a little tip - if you want to paint in strong background involving layered washes like this one, it really helps if you invest into some art masking fluid and cover the foreground figures with it. You can just boldly colour the scene in then, wait it to dry completely and rub off the masking fluid - no ultramarine washes on you mermaids face! :)
Thank you so much for popping by!

Annika, now I must buy this image :) I just love, how you have coloured her.
Aah the joys (and frustrations) of watercolours.... it's seems an age since I wielded my brushes. If you really hate the Sakura white pen, dab it v. gently with a slightly damp tissue and it will lift off. I've lifted pen off of watercolour pencil work, but you have to take care to dab not scrub or you'll lift the colouring underneath aswell. By the way Annika, I love the way you've done the sky and water - awesome job!!

Woooow! What an amazing colouring! Love how you coloured the sea. I actually like that bow, lol. Since you don`t have so much other embellies, i think it works great. Hugs...Mona
This is soooooooo gorgeous, Annika!
Beautiful job depicting the water and sky and the image is colored magnificently! Absolutely stunning!
Actually I like the bow.
(don't shoot me.)
Watercolors freak me out. That's I stick to pencils. But you're a true artist and seem to conquer any medium you set your mind to. :-)

Jeepers... if only I could do up a bow that looked half as good as yours, I'd be happy. The bow is actually very nice Annika and the card is equally gorgeous.
Your background painting is awesome, too awesome to be that critical. The mermaid coloring is good too, it just doesn't match the rest of the card, but it doesn't have to all the time. Love the bow.
Your colouring is amazing, Annika and I just love the background. Beautiful card, the bow looks very good. :)

Hi Annika. I love that big bow! LOL...and the metal dragonfly is a perfect touch too. Don't be so hard on yourself.

OH MY Word..this is stunning.
Wow! Love this card. It is awesome. It is a shame you don't like it as I am sure everyone would agree, it is beautiful card. Thanks for the tip as regards the masking fluid. I have been viewing your other stunning cards and I do love the one where the image is from Kenny K.
Thanks for sharing such truly inspirational cards. Love them all!!
Happy crafting

If this is what you call a mistake...then I would hate to see one you call "perfect"! Wowzer is this ever beautiful! I love the coloring and your background is wonderful. That huge bow(that you dislike) is perfect! What a beautiful card...Thanks for sharing it with us who aspire to color like you!
Hugs,
Georgia
