I don't have enough words...

Thank you all so much for the words of condolences and comfort. Reading all your comments and emails has been wonderful. Nothing will take away the pain of losing my mother but it's amazing to feel that out there, in our beloved land of blogging and crafting, are so many friends who care and are there for me.

I apologize that I haven't been responding to all of the emails and comments - most of the days I'm just not up to much chatting.

I decided to express my feelings the best way I know. Here's the result.
The challenge at Make it Colourful was to colour on anything except white card kraft, vellum, fabric, tissue paper (candles), wood etc. I spent a long time colouring that image with Prismacolor and Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. It is a work of love. Although I know there are many mistakes there - I will learn from these in the future.
The fairy is from Crafts and Me and the swing is a contribution from Make It Crafty store towards Help For Katie campaign.

Katie was diagnosed with stage 4 Stomach Cancer before Christmas and is currently undergoing her only option which is Chemotherapy. The campaign is collecting money to help with her treatment and give some treat to her two lovely boys. A lot of wonderful artists have donated images toward it.

Jak Heath is also running a competition on her blog for the cards using the images from Help For Katie set, there are some lovely prizes so do check it out.
I am not going to be rambling about how I made this card. If you have any questions about the materials/techniques, just ask me in comments section and email me. I'll do my best to answer.
Again, thank you so much - your support and understanding has made my heart a lot lighter!

Hugs

I'm sorry about your loss. I've had a long, hard work week, so this is the first time I've heard this sad news. I've lost both my parents, so I know what your going through. You feel like an 'orphan' when your parents die, and like your all alone for the first time in your life even though your adult and married with kids! My dad died 3 years ago, and recently I ran across some old cards he sent me when I was cleaning out a desk drawer; when I saw his hand-writing I started to choke up because for a split second it seemed he was still alive. Somehow that handwriting came to life for me, like it was a small piece of him. It made me think of our 'internet age' and how everyone is texting or emailing loved ones now, and how love notes once written willnow be lost forever. It's sad. But we as card-makers should continue to pursue to send cards, always leave that 'written memory of love' that will last for a long time.

Anyway, your card is simply exquisite! The depth of your love, and even the agony of your pain is shown in your artwork. The coloring is perfect, and I love the frame around the image. Such beautiful, beautiful, work.

This is absolutely stunning Annika, you've really put your heart and soul into this. Your coloring is truly outstanding with the prisma's, but then I wouldn't have expected to see anything less, as your coloring with all mediums is perfect. You have a gift.

Annika, your card is gorgeous. I'm so sad to hear of your loss. I lost my mom a little over 10 years ago, and there are still things that remind me of her; something she used to cook, or comments she used to make. It does take time before the pain begins to let up some, but it does eventually ease up to a degree.

Hopefully knowing that others care about you, will help you feel a degree of peace. Hugs, Debra

It's good that you as a crafter have an outlet for your emotions, it's cathartic, isn't it? And we all love to see your art, it's a piece of you.

Just stopping by to send you some more hugs and warm thoughts you way. I've been thinking about coloring another image on Kraft paper and wanted to study work work - it really is fantastic and something I hope I can do well. In the mean time I'm getting ready to work on Saturday's challenge - the funny thing is, I find it much easier to blend different colors in pencils than with Copic markers. It just seems different and harder to control the amount of color applied with the markers... maybe I'm grabbing the wrong color. Anyway, just saying Hi and no pressure on getting back with me... just didn't want you to feel isolated. *Hugs

Annika,

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I don't really think we can ever truly prepare to lose someone we love. I lost my baby brother unexpectantly in December to a car accident. I know all too well the feeling of not wanting to be chatty but the desire to express your appreciation for thoughtfulness.

Your post was very well written and sincere. I hope your healing comes swiftly. The card you created was truly a beautiful gift to us all and I feel, to the memory of your dear mother.

Blessings to you...
Gwen
