Phindy's Challenge - Girly

Friday again - gosh, the weeks just fly - and our challenge at Phindy's is to create a girly card or project using one of her images.

We have some new as well, here's the snippet from the post: "Starting with our new challenge, the winner each week will chosen by Random.org and will receive an $8 Gift Certificate to Phindy's Place store. We will have an additional weekly prize for the card (or project) chosen as "Pick of the Week"! The Pick of the Week wins a 10% off voucher for Phindy's Place store. Once a month we will choose an overall winner from the weekly winners and they will be offered a Guest position on the DT - and of course a free image from Phindy's Place to use for that week's challenge!"

Well, if the challenge is to make a girly card, you do NOT have to ask me twice, especially since Phindy has such an array of real gorgeous girly images to offer!


The image I used is called Jumprope and has such a gorgeous retro feel to it. Colouring is done with Copics and TINY bit of Sakura glitter pen. The background was done by masking the image and using Memento & Nick Bantock inks for stippling.

I am lately into yellow and teal big time (as you might have noticed, lol). So of course out came papers from OA Thrift shop stack, a cute crocheted flower I got from Ebay and my box-o-buttons.


To add to the vintage feel I hand stitched all the layers and also created some scallops. Yes, I thought I was mad as well halfway through it. The ribbon came from my stash along with the lace. I DO have quite a substantial amount of lace in my stash, that's right.

Then I suddenly had an idea that I wanted the card look like somebody (no guphaws here, please :P) had sprinkled a random handful of gems onto it. Lemme tell you, 'tis not easy to be random!


The sentiment is from Hero Arts, I think I got it from Simon Says Stamp - quite a long time ago!
